Medellín is an attractive city that draws most travelers instantly, with its natural beauty, lush greenery year round, and sprawling city views from every angle. Nearly Perfect Weather
It is known as the “City of Eternal Spring”, the weather is about as good as it gets. Medellín has a year-round average temperature of 72° Fahrenheit. Aside from slightly heavier showers in October and April, you’ll soak up the sun every time you step outside.

Forget about the latest Narco series on Netflix or those faint memories of news stories outlining the cartel; that was over 20 years ago. Safety and security in Colombia has improved significantly. Crime rates are lower than many of the USA’s major metropolitan cities. You can walk freely on the streets, grab an Uber across town, or head to a salsa club without worry. Medellin has over 4 million people and is like most major cities in the world, there are parts that are not as nice as others but as long as you practice common sense you will feel right at home in no time.
People are incredibly welcoming and friendly
Medellin is definitely up there among the friendliest of the lot – people will often smile at you in the street and even strike up random conversations. It makes for a pleasant atmosphere throughout the city and is another great reason to visit.
The nightlife is Amazing
There are several areas in town with excellent night life and more and more popping up every year. El Poblado is one of the popular neighborhoods to go where you have the choice of late night cafés, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. There’s a lot of live music venues, festivals and a true live of celebration and socializing!
Top Public transport
Medellin is the only city in all of Colombia with a metro system and it’s cheap and well-organized. So a day exploring the city will not break the bank. Uber is also readily available and there are thousands of licensed Taxis all over town that run off a meter starting at just $3200 pesos (about $1 USD) so you know you are never being charged dishonestly.
Food is top-notch
It seems like almost every day there is another excellent restauran popping up somewhere around Medellin, From delicious local dishes, to italian, Sushi, Steak, you name it you will find it in Medellin! And of course, no trip to Colombia would be complete without sampling their world-famous coffee. The Colorful town of Guatape and the Surrounding Pueblos
If you feel like escaping Medellin there are plenty of peaceful pueblos and places to visit in the surrounding hills. The colorful town of Guatapé. Located on the shores of a sprawling artificial lake, has become famous for its multi-colored alleyways and intricately painted depictions of village life. It may be a little Disneyland-esque, but there is plenty there to keep you occupied as well – wander the little lanes, enjoy the sun from the square or take to the lake by canoe or boat.
